Phonemic Awareness
Systematic and explicit instruction through song, rhyme, and manipulative activities.

Phonics
Systematic phonics instruction teaches letter-sound correspondence and progresses as students’ understanding grows.

Fluency
Exposure to fluent reading through multiple voiceovers that vary by gender, age, pace, ethnicity and tone.

Vocabulary
Synchronizes vocabulary with high-frequency words, and introduces new and related words for decoding.

Comprehension
Models effective strategies for connecting text to student experience.
